Dear brothers and sisters,
These are difficult days we’re living in, both for us as individuals and as a people. It’s been on my heart for a few days now, to see if we could come together as a body and unite to pray about this situation, this plague of coronavirus.
Obviously, we can’t come together physically, but we can unite together in the Spirit and pray for God’s mercy on our land and on our world. We’ve turned away from the Lord and the Lord longs for us to turn back to Him.
‘When I shut up the heavens so there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’ 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Barry, in his message on Sunday, mentioned Numbers 16, where wrath had gone forth from the Lord and a plague had started among the people because of their rebellion and Moses told Aaron, the High Priest to take his censor, put incense in it and burning coals from the altar and run to the assembly of the people to make atonement for them.
‘He stood between the living and the dead and the plague stopped’. Numbers 16:48. Incense, in scripture, is associated with the prayers of the people (Rev 8:4
) and the coals were taken from the altar of sacrifice, so if we come to the Father and offer our prayers through the sacrifice of Jesus, our saviour, He will surely hear us.
